It’s news time folks! You may have noticed that we’ve missed posting this occasionally over the last month or two. This is just while we all get used to our shiny new Website, and as such, Connas has a ton of whisky reviews to bring you in coming weeks. So, get ready for a deluge!

In the meantime, here’s all that’s happened since his last update!


Whisky Lounge in “Continues Festival Awesomeness” Inevitability!

Campbeltown-based distiller Glen Scotia have partnered with Gary Robinson, Executive Chef at The Balmoral Hotel, to promote its new 12-year-old Seasonal Release. Nice…


Chocolate from the Loch!

Loch Lomond have teamed up with one of Scotland’s leading chocolatiers to release a limited-edition assortment of whisky-paired chocolates. These sound awesome!


Charity Auction Stuff!

Online bidding has opened on The Distillers One of One sale, ahead of the live auction at Barnbougle Castle outside Edinburgh, Scotland on Friday 3 December 2021. In total, the auction will present 42 lots of ultra-rare and unique Scotch whiskies and experiences, ranging in estimates from £1,000 upwards to £500,000 – all to be offered without reserve. Dig deep people!

Kavalan Triple!

Taiwanese distillers Kavalan have launched a new expression matured in three different Sherry casks. A certain Mr Ludlow may well be looking out for this!


Bimber, Right Side of the Tracks!

Four new releases of Bimber created in partnership with Transport for London, have been drawn from some of the distillery’s oldest stock laid down in 2016.Chancery Lane (57.8% ABV) matured in an ex-Madeira cask. London Bridge (58.7% ABV) matured in an ex-Port cask. Paddington (58.9% ABV) matured in an ex-PX Sherry cask. Victoria (58.2% ABV) matured in an ex-Rye cask.All Aboard!


Mossburn x2!

Mossburn Distillers have launched the two-strong Caisteal Chamuis range comprising of a Bourbon Barrelled and a 12-Year-Old Sherry-Barrelled blended malt, the latter of which has been aged in ex-Oloroso Sherry butts.


JG Thompson Launched!

The company that owns the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) has launched a creator of small-batch blended malt whiskies, grain whiskies, rum and gin – known as J.G. Thomson & Co. Most intriguing…


Tamdhu of Distinction!

Tamdhu Speyside have announced the arrival of their latest limited-edition release – Quercus Alba Distinction. Intending to celebrate the characteristics of first-fill American oak sherry cask maturation.



Green Malt!

All kinds of positive environmental talk from Diageo, Glenmorangie, Ardgowan and the industry in general over the last couple of weeks. Good!

And, to put the cherry on the cake, Bruichladdich are releasing their first ever biodynamic whisky. Which happens to be the world’s first biodynamic Scotch! Awesome scenes!


Rockin Robin!

Redbreast are launching'Robin Redbreast Day' a global date in the calendar year designed to raise awareness of the brand's mission to help keep the common birds common.


Holy 25 Year Old Whisky, Batman!

Park Row, the London restaurant created by DC Comics, has launched its first Scotch whisky, a 25-year-old limited edition bottling inspired by the story of Batman. Kapooooooow!


G and M Private Collection!

Gordon & MacPhail have created a one-off Scotch whisky collection priced at £100,000!


Tears Sold!

Amber Beverage, a global producer and distributor of alcohol, have purchased Irish company Walsh Whiskey, who are responsible for the “Writers Tears” brand.


Highlands to Island!

Arran Distillers have appointed former Brora manager Stewart Bowman to lead the Lochranza Distillery team, following the departure of David Livingstone.


Two New Bowmore!

We have two new Bowmore to get to grips with folks! A 32 year old Legends Reimagined – No Corners to Hide and a 21-year-old in partnership with Aston Martin. Nice…


Collectors Summit…

Whisky Auctioneer ran the world’s first-ever Summit of Collectability, bringing industry leaders and experts together to pioneer a discussion around modern collectors and the future of whisky within the secondary market. Ahead of the last round of bidding in the largest collection ever to come to auction.

Diageo have revealed plans to build a US$75 million malt whisky distillery in China. Wow!


Lux Expansion!

Kentucky-based Lux Row Distillers will embark on a US$4 million expansion this month, which will increase its annual production capacity by 75%.

The Autumn release of GlenAllachie Single Cask expressions bottled exclusively for the UK market, have arrived!


BB’Brakala!

Our buddies at Berry Bros & Rudd have released 539 bottles of a 14-year-old single cask Scotch from Royal Brackla Distillery. Just In time for Christmass


Green Light at St Bots’

Planning for the construction of St Boswells Distillery, Scotland’s first grain distillery in a decade, has been approved to start in 2022.


New for the Firth!

A planning application has been submitted to build a new malt whisky distillery next to the Dornoch Firth.


Starward Exclusive!

The Whisky Exchange’s latest exclusive whisky has landed – a 4 year old Australian single malt from Melbourne’s Starward distillery.


New Master at Bushmills!

Bushmills have named Alex Thomas as their new master blender. Best of luck to all!


Gally Head’ing your way!

Clonakilty Distillery have added a new single malt to their portfolio, “Galley Head”.

I’ve been learning a lot about Sherry lately. If you happen to find yourself at one of my tastings. Prepare yourself for Jerez based blabbering!
