Blind Islay 2019 Manchester

As the winter draws in, what better than whisky to warm the cockles? In particular, those wonderfully aromatic and characterful whiskies hailing from the Isle of Islay. Steeped in mystery and peat and reminiscent of the fires that birthed them, they are the perfect companion to a chilly evening.

Join us as we celebrate with some of the Isle’s finest drams.

Whether it be the sublime dry, sea air aromas and fresh oily peatiness of Caol Ila or the wonderful dark smokey and intense rich earthiness of Ardbeg. With nine working distilleries and yet only around 3000 inhabitants, Islay’s lifeblood positively courses with whisky.

Back for 2019, we will be sampling six of the island’s finest in our Blind Islay 2019 tastings this November. In keeping with the mysterious nature of the nectar you will be sampling, the tasting will take place in “the blind”. Not until you have tasted and reviewed the whiskies, in leisurely and amiable company, and with the guidance of one of The Whisky Lounge’s informed missionaries, will we reveal which whiskies you have been sampling.

Easily the best way of judging whiskies; tasting them ‘blind’ allows you to focus purely on enjoying the aroma and flavour, rather than any influential fancy packaging! You may surprise yourself with how eye-opening it is.

This is normally our most highly anticipated tasting of the year, so don’t hesitate if tickets remain!

PLEASE NOTE, this tasting event will start promptly at 7pm and finish around 9pm. It may be slightly shorter, or it may go on a little longer. We finish when you are ready to finish and we are very relaxed about that. However, if you need to get away sooner, as you have a train to catch or similar, please let the host know. That way they can make sure you sample all the whiskies in time!
