2022 Bristol Whisky Festival

Sat 2nd April 2022

Location:

College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TR

If you haven’t been to one of our festivals before you are in for a treat! If you have then you know what to expect, only this year we are back bigger and better. As well as the usual shenanigans, we have a few more surprises for you….

You’ll get to sample the best home-grown whiskies from Scotland, as well as all corners of the globe. The Bristol Whisky Festival attracts the finest distillers from as far afield as India, Japan, the USA and even England!

Simply approach any of the exhibitors stands, ask politely for a dram and you shall receive a tasty glass of whisky (it really is that simple!). Every exhibitor knows their whiskies inside out and it’s well worth taking advantage of this knowledge.

Sessions and tickets

We deliberately set specific session times so the festival doesn’t get overcrowded, meaning you can sip and swallow at your own pace.

Saturday 2nd April 2022

1st Session: 12pm-4pm

2nd Session: 5pm-9pm

The full session ticket, for just £50, includes;

  • Entry to one session, Saturday 12pm-4pm or 5pm-9pm (select which above)
  • Glencairn tasting glass
  • ALL WHISKIES SAMPLED IN MAIN HALL (not including 'The Dream Dram Table' drams)

Festival Masterclasses

Getting up close and tasting with an expert for 45-60 minutes. These classes are FREE but very limited numbers-wise, so you must be quick to get in!

1pm (Early Session), 6pm (Late Session)

Billy Abbott - Author of 'The Philosophy of Whisky'

Join award-winning whisky writer Billy Abbott as he takes a philosophical view of whisky and digs into the interconnectedness of all drams. From Scotland, to the US and beyond, he'll lead you around the whisky world, stopping in along the way to taste local spirits, examine their heritage and find out how they are all related.

1.30pm (Early Session), 6.30pm (Late Session)

Spirit of Yorkshire - IPA Cask Finish

Join the team from Spirit of Yorkshire as they take you through their unique story as farmers brewers and distillers. This masterclass will take you through the lifeline of their award-winning release, Filey Bay IPA Finish. This special whisky is one of only a handful of whiskies ever to be matured in IPA casks and is believed to be the only 100% field to bottle IPA matured whisky in the world. Alongside the whisky, you'll also be enjoying the fantastic barrel aged beer that created this whisky.

You must have a valid festival ticket for the relevant session and tickets are limited to two per person.

The Festival Shop

As in previous years, we will have a retail shop in the show to take care of all your purchasing needs and selling every whisky that you will find in the show.

2020 Ticket Holders

If you already have a ticket or tickets for the postponed 2020/21 event, your booking will automatically be transferred to the corresponding session for this event. If you need to move session, please email info@thewhiskylounge.com with your ticket details and which session you wish to move to.

Exhibitors…

…will keep appearing here at regular intervals, please keep checking back to see what distilleries are in store for you!

Billy Abbott

Billy is a dear friend of ours and we have watched his whisky journey from the very beginning and we were delighted when he told us he was writing a book!

So, to celebrate the release and as an excuse to get together with an old friend, Billy will be at the festival, in both sessions, operating a stand from where he will be selling and signing copies of this lovely tome. The book itself is real breath of fresh air and focuses (as the title might suggest) on the social aspect of whisky appreciation.

If you would like to order a copy to bring with you on the day, you can buy it from Billy's book website, which can be found by clicking on the book cover below!

Covid-19 and our events

With the changes to Government advice and rules surrounding Covid-19, we have changed our own policy in line with these.

We simply recommend wearing face masks, where possible, and would urge everyone to do a lateral flow test before attending the event, although this is not mandatory.

Anyone with a positive test will be entitled to be transferred to our 2023 festival - you should be rewarded for doing the right thing!

You no longer have to show us a Covid or vaccine passport.

The boring bit

Please, please ensure you buy tickets for the right session. We set strict limits on the number of tickets for each session so visitors can enjoy their whisky at their own pace. We are unable to swap tickets on the day. But, we’re mostly all human, so if you do buy the wrong session by accident, email info@thewhiskylounge.com as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to sort out the muddle.

Please note: ‘last pour’ is always 15 minutes prior to the session end time. This is non-negotiable!

All attendees must be 21 or over – photo ID may be required.

This venue does have disabled access via an appropriate ramp and/or lift. If in doubt or you have any questions, please contact us at info@thewhiskylounge.com
