Hello, Loungers! Its Friday, it’s February, and it’s Connas with this week’s Whisky News!

  • ’Tis The Seasoning, For The Bourbon!

Buffalo Trace are to release the latest round of their experimental Seasoned Stave whiskeys: two bourbons bottled at 90-proof will be available by the end of the month…

Not only that! They’ve also just resurrected a fermenter from a 100 year slumber! Impressive!

  • Tobermory Rises…

After a two-year hiatus in production, Tobermory distillery is up and running once more! And to mark the occasion they’re releasing a new 12 year old single malt! Great news, I’m looking forward to this one…

  • No “Glen”, Please! You’re German…

A court has ruled that a German whisky has breached the geographical indication of Scotch whisky by using the word ‘Glen’ in its name… [Taking Ar Country Bak! RESPECT ARE SOVERIGNTEH! – Brexit Irony, Ed.]

  • Secondary Strength!

More than 100,000 bottles of rare single malt Scotch were sold in UK auctions last year. That’s a record high that shows growing interest in whisky investments…

  • Karuizawa Ballot…

There’s a ballot under way for some new mega-rare 35 year old from the now closed Karuizawa distillery….

  • It’s Here…

Diageo‘s new Single Malt range inspired by Game Of Thrones is available. TODAY!

  • Stroll On!

Not satisfied with having brought out eight new whiskies, Diageo have also submitted plans for the new Johnnie Walker visitor attraction in Edinburgh. They’re a busy lot!

  • Exports Up!

Following last week’s news that imports of American whiskey have doubled in eight years, it would seem that Scotch is only too happy to reciprocate, awesome numbers…

  • And Finally…

That’s what I call proper brown! Thanks for popping in again, folks – a pleasure as always!

See you next week for more,

Connas
