It’s our last Whisky News of August people! Where did that go!?!?

More importantly, its only three weeks till our first physical festival since re-opening in Liverpool! We’re very excited to see you all again, and there is still a hand full of tickets left, should the mood take you!

  • New Tamdhu!

Tamdhu have announced the sixth edition of their multi-award-winning ‘Batch Strength’ series. Batch Strength No. 006 is bottled at 56.8% ABV, and a high proportion of first-fill casks have been used. Nice.

  • Dancing Shoes!

Scottish Ballet, Diageo and Whisky Auctioneer have announced the release of 470 bottles from a single cask of Royal Lochnagar whisky, which will be sold at auction 9-13 September 2021. Bottle number one will include the original cask end painting of ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ painted by Norman Edgar, based on a Scottish Ballet dancer. And all proceeds will go to support the future of Scotland’s national dance company. Cool.

  • Macallan 70 Year Old!

Tales of The Macallan Volume I, the first edition in a new series of single malt whiskies which tells the story of The Macallan pioneers and their whisky-making legacy is here. And it was distilled in 1950! Enough Said….

  • Changing Times at SoS!

George McNeil, managing director of Johnstons of Elgin retail division, has been appointed chairman designate of Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, ahead of the return of their in-person festival in November. Best of luck all!

  • Pioneer Subscription!

A new whisky sample subscription has launched in partnership with Prevented Ocean Plastic, with the aim of removing plastic waste from environments where it is likely to be washed out to sea, whilst sharing great whisky. Whisky Pioneer will send out a minimum of 5cl per month to subscribers, focussing mainly on single malts, with information included in the delivery and additional found on the website, Interesting…

  • Connacht Single Malt!

The Connacht Distillery have debuted their flagship single malt, said to be the first whiskey distilled in County Mayo in more than 150 years.

  • Walking Dead Dramming!

Even zombies enjoy a glass of whiskey! The Sexton Single Malt have teamed up with The Walking Dead to become the show’s official whiskey during its final season.

  • Distell limited Editions!

Distell have revealed four new limited edition whiskies from their Bunnahabhain, Tobermory and Deanston distilleries, including a peated Ledaig 1999 bottling. Happy days!

  • And finally…

Gateshead FC started the season with a win. This makes me very happy!
