  • New ‘Farclassseseseses!

There’re 2 new Distillery Exclusive Glenfarclas’ with us! One’s a 2008 vintage from first-fill sherry, and there are only 656 bottles. The other, a 1994 Vintage filled and consulted on by Kenneth Clarke MP, the proceeds of which are being donated to The Salvation Army. I can’t imagine them lasting long….

  • New, Old and Rare.

After 3 years in Glasgow, the annual Whisky Show ‘Old And Rare’ is moving to Edinburgh. Shorter train ride for yours truly!

  • Rye Down Under!

The good folks from Chivas have launched a 13-year-old Rye finished (blended scotch – ed) whisky, exclusive to Australia!

  • SWA has a new director…

The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) has appointed former diplomat Ian McKendrick to the role of international director. And best of luck to him….

  • Coull heads to Ireland…

Ireland’s Dingle Distillery have appointed Glen Moray’s Graham Coull as their new master distiller.

I hope they have plenty of Oat Cakes

  • Aldi Up!

Aldi has revealed the line-up for its first ever Spirits of Scotland Festival which will take place in all 87 Aldi stores in Scotland in a deal worth over £312,000 to the distilleries involved. Boom!

  • Diageo spending Big!

Diageo have increased its stake in United Spirits to 55.2%. Even by Gateshead standards that’s a lot of cash…

  • Cotswold’s Festival Bottle Still In Stock!

If you were sad because you missed out on the Cotswold’s first ever Festival Bottling, stop it! There are some left and they’re on the website!

  • Posthumous Honour for Dr. Swan

The Scottish Whisky Awards judging panel have now received the blessing of the late and greatly missed Dr. Swan’s family to create a new annual industry award which will be titled “The Jim Swan Award for Services to Scotch Whisky”. Very Fitting…

  • Aloha from Hawaii!

Whisky is being made in Hawaii –  The veteran-owned Ko‘olau Distillery are producing Old Pali Road Whiskey at a rate of 8 barrels at a time. And if they’re reading this; there is no need to fly me out there to have a look at the facility. It’s warm enough here in Gateshead….

  • Barton Clears Up In LA!

The Los Angeles International Spirits Competition results are in and six bourbons from Barton 1792 Distillery earned Gold Medals, with one being named “Best of Category.”

Time Magazine has named Macallan distillery as one of the world’s 100 must-visit destinations. Disneyland is also on the list… (no kidding! – ed)

Ireland’s Sliabh Liag Distillers have secured planning approval to build a €6 million distillery and visitor centre in Donegal, which will bring Irish whiskey production back to the county for the first time in 177 years! Awesome work….

The folks at Glenallachie have added a new 15 year old to their core range. And a little birdy tells me there’s a sample of it waiting for me in the office! Happy days!

  • Happy 125th AnCnoc!
AnCnoc have released 2 limited editions to mark their 125th anniversary. A non-peated Bourbon Cask retailing at £100 and a Peated Sherry Cask with an RRP of £60. Only 500 bottles of each are available, so be quick!
