Connas has returned from last weekends frivolities, ram packed with the opening of the new Milroys venue on Commercial St, and The Whisky Show (Massive respect is due to all who took part by the way, superstars all!) to his beloved hometown. And here he is to furnish you lucky loungers with this week’s comings and goings in the whisky world…. (Spoiler – This ones a big one!)

  • Benromach 50!

There’s a Benromach 50 year-old with us people. And I was lucky enough to try some at the whisky show last week. It. Is. Awesome!

  • Follow Shackleton, off the edge of the map!

Shackleton are encouraging drinkers to go “off-grid” and avoid social media and emails with an online map that highlights areas free from connectivity. Make sure you read the Gateshead Whisky News first though…. Obviously.

Bardstown Bourbon Company has launched three expressions finished in brandy and beer barrels as part of its Collaborative Series. Teaming up with Copper & Kings and the Goodwood Brewing Company.

It has been reported that the US is to add a 25% tariff on Single Malt Scotch. However, James Johnston OBE, Chair of the Malt Whisky Trail said: ‘This ruling is unwelcome, but the quality, consistency and character of the Speyside malt defines the uniqueness of a product which will continue to stand up in economically challenging situations.” We shall see!

The good folks at GlenAllachie are celebrating the 2 year anniversary of purchasing the distillery with a Limited Edition 10 year-old and 5 Single Cask offerings. Good on them! (word has it they are also making their TWL festival debut in York tomorrow! – Ed)
